31 Days of Horror 2025

Every October, I take on the challenge of painting 31 horror characters in 31 days — a tradition I started back in 2019 during Inktober. What began as a fun art prompt has grown into a personal deep dive into horror’s most iconic (and obscure) faces.

What started as a fun challenge back in 2019 during Inktober has turned into one of my favorite yearly traditions. That first year, I followed the official prompts and created something new every day in October. But in 2020, I decided to make the challenge my own: instead of prompts, I painted all my favorite horror characters.

Since then, my 31 Days of Horror project has grown into a full collection of hand-painted watercolor horror portraits, featuring everyone from iconic slashers and classic monsters to lesser-known cult figures. Each October, I create 31 new horror paintings — one for every day of the month — celebrating the spooky, the nostalgic, and the wonderfully weird side of horror.

As the years go on, finding new characters has become a fun challenge in itself. I’ve gone from the big names to the deep cuts and obscure horror icons, digging up forgotten gems that deserve their moment in the moonlight.
